Feel free to use this forum if you would like to keep union communications off the district mail servers (highly recommended).

If I lose my step being in my 12th year teaching I would end up losing over $30,000. I do not see the $1,200 as being acceptable. Now think if it's only your 2nd year.

Don't forget about the insurance! Especially if you and your spouse work in the district....we are getting screwed at all levels... Salary, Insurance, Language... What are the next steps?!

I agree with Jean. If we allow ourselves to take such a hit now, we will never get back to where we were. We don't have to simply accept what they throw at us. We shouldn't even be talking to them until the contract they offer us is not a complete joke

This is a great idea to have this site. My biggest concern with the contract is that we worked the entire year this year........We did not strike........we earned the step.......If I did not work this year I would have a different outlook.......I do not want $1200 dollars this year in substitute for the 2% it will cost me in every year that I work for the rest of my career.......Secondly, how can we be told just a week ago that the contract is the best it is going to get, but then in a moment $200 a person is added in a last ditch effort to pass the contract....... And is $200 extra dollars going to make up for me losing money every year for the rest of my career?

Something to also keep in mind that NO administrator has to pay for insurance and they have 100% coverage.
It seems like they raised our insurance to pay for all the new admin!

This is the worst contract of all time! No contract should be worse than the previous contract! I HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE UNION REPRESENTATION BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING PAID NO MATTER WHAT! They are not looking out for our best interests and are only in this for themselves!!!! Another thing, dont we thing that 93 administrators in our district making nearly 10 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR should be looked into as well and should be CUT to make our contract....the people that WORK with the children...better!!!! Just saying!

I am a 7th year teacher with a Master’s degree. To make this clearer, I have not included lane changes that I will be making in the next couple years. All of these calculations were made using next year’s proposed salary schedule (which is actually exactly the same as the SY 11/12 contract).
• This year (SY 12/13), I would have made $1,177 more than last (being on Line 7 instead of 6). But I’ll be getting $1,200, so I am actually making 23 whole extra dollars this year. • In SY 13/14, I would have made $61,199 on Line 8. But I’ll be on Line 7, so I’ll make $59,999. I’m losing out on $1,200. • In SY 14/15, I would have made $62,423 on Line 9. But I’ll be on Line 8, so I’ll make $61,199, losing out on $1,224.
So only including the next three years, since that is how long our next proposed contract is, I have already lost out on $2401. This does not include the amount of money that I will now be contributing to my health insurance (an extra $600 per year), nor does it include my pending lane changes (by SY 14/15, I will be on the M+40 line).
I actually calculated how much salary I would be missing out on, assuming we have the same contract with no further freezes in pay, through SY 24/25. Just considering salary, I’m losing about $14,800. Again, this does not include lane changes, so the actual number will be over $15,000 lost over the course of twelve years. Nor does it include the freeze in stipend step.

Are administrator getting a pay cut? ? Or are they going to continue to make more and more money. We are in debt because of all of the new positions that were put into place at the Ad Center!!! I blame the Ad Center for the debt that we are in. Lets get out of debt and get rid of some of the administrators and give that money to the teachers for their contract!!!
